What are the details?

The Winnipesaukee Playhouse in Meredith NH has an immediate need to cast female-identifying dancers approximately 11-16 years old to join the youth dance chorus of Sleeping Beauty: A Traditional English Panto which runs this holiday season and begins rehearsal on December 3rd! Dancers will a few years of experience and with basic ballet proficiency are preferred. The ability to dance en pointe is a plus, but not a requirement. This year the dancers in the youth chorus will also perform small roles as fairies and have a few short lines to learn! There is no charge for participation and costumes will be provided. Additionally, each dancer will have access to a coupon code for discounted tickets to share with friends and family.

What is a "Panto?"

A holiday tradition in England since the Victorian era, pantos are fairytale musical comedies. The Playhouse brought this tradition to Meredith in 2014 and produced a panto for six years prior to 2020. The panto brings together all three of the Playhouse’s departments—professional, community, and education—featuring professionals from NY and beyond, along with talented locals adults, and trained students dancers from local studios.

What about submissions?

What to Submit: Simple! Interested dancers should submit a video of themselves dancing - footage from a recital or in class is fine as long as the dancer can be clearly seen. Filming something specifically for this is also totally acceptable. It would be great to see some ballet and some jazz—anything that showcases the dancer’s abilities!

How to Submit: Send audition video along with the name and age of the dancer to [email protected] by the end of the day on November 30th.
