We've got a BIG announcement!
We know we've been quiet lately but that doesn't mean we haven't been working hard in the background on things like grant applications, summer camp planning, and more. In addition to attempting to put a theatre season together under the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in, Producing Artistic Director Neil Pankhurst has spent countless hours working with the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and other industry leaders to advise the Economic Recovery Task Force on how performing arts venues in this state can reopen both safely and in a financially viable way.
You may have read recently in the Laconia Daily Sun that, unfortunately, the recommendation made by the Task Force was not adopted by the state and the current Performing Arts Guidelines make it difficult for theatres throughout the state to open with much, if any, financial security.
That said, we are determind that theatre will return to our campus beginning this summer. Will it be easy? No. Will we likely make a loss on each production? Yes. We are very fortunate to have received both state and federal funding which will stem the tide of the pandemic. Any tax-deductible contributions you are able to make to us by donating online will help see us through the uncertainty of the coming months.
What will this season look like? We're going with a theme of "Small AND Beautiful". There will be plays and there will be musicals. There will be Broadway hits and original works. Some will be on our gorgeously renovated outdoor amphitheatre. Some will be back inside our beautiful building. Expect to see a lot of your favorite actors and creative team members returning.
And the shows? Well, we're going to have to tease you a little bit with this. The new guidelines have forced us to reconsider things like lengths of runs, performance dates, etc. And we want to square all that away before we announce the titles.
So tune in on April 20th for the BIG REVEAL of show titles, subscription packages, ticket availability, and more!
In the meantime, camp registrations are up and running and our Musical Theatre Intensive for high school students has some updated information. The campus lighting improvements you generously supported last summer are nearly complete. The lights will be shining onstage and off this summer. The weather is getting warmer. Vaccines are rolling out. The future is looking brighter.
We can't wait to see you soon!
