Openings in the Education Department’s Summer Camp Program
To apply, please send resume and cover letter to Education Director Timothy L’Ecuyer at timothy@winniplayhouse.org. Questions may also be directed to that email address.
The Winnipesaukee Playhouse Education Department is looking for people to fill open teaching positions in the 2018 Summer Camp Program. Ideal candidates will have undergraduate degrees or above in theatre, art, music, dance, education, and/or related fields. Certified teachers are a plus. Strong consideration will absolutely be given, however, to individuals who have not completed a degree or who have a degree in an unrelated area, but who have a significant level of experience in one of the above mentioned fields. Candidates absolutely must minimally have a high school diploma and experience working with children. All teachers are responsible for establishing a learning environment for students that is safe, engaging, and constructive. They must work individually and collaboratively to create, implement, and assess a developmentally appropriate curriculum while communicating with parents/guardians about students’ progress and behavior as appropriate and possible. They guide students in the development and presentation of a final showcase performance.
The Education Department’s 2018 Summer Camp Program follows its popular integrated-arts model again this year. Camp 1 (ages 5-7) and Camp 2 (ages 8-11) have a one-week session with theatre in the morning (9:00-12:00) and then music, dance, and art in the afternoon (1:00-4:00). The Upper Camp (ages 12-14) is on a two-week session with theatre all day (9:00-4:00). The overall environment is structured, but informal—students and teachers are on a first name basis. It should feel more like day camp than school, though our intentions are educational, as must be our focus. The program is filled with high energy, creative students with a variety of experience, needs, and goals for participating. The teacher’s objective must be to meet students at their current levels of ability and assist each one in taking their individualized next step. The showcases at the end of each session are meant to allow each student the ability to demonstrate what they have learned at camp. More information about the program may be found here: http://www.winnipesaukeeplayhouse.org/theatre-camp-2018.html
Pay is negotiable and depends on hours (full day, morning, afternoon), experience, and level of education. Average salaries tend to be between $200 and $400 per week. Housing possibly included for those who need it. Note: it is possible to apply for a morning AND afternoon position.
