The Winnipesaukee Playhouse is grateful to foster borrowing and lending relationships with other groups. We are happy to lend items free-of-charge to non-profit organizations that are willing to reciprocate! Weekly rental fees will otherwise apply. The Winnipesaukee Playhouse is grateful to foster borrowing and lending relationships with other groups. We are happy to lend items free-of-charge to non-profit organizations that are willing to reciprocate! Weekly rental fees will otherwise apply. Before contacting us about borrowing, please review our policies below:
- Lending is by appointment only. Appointment times are at the discretion of the production manager.
- Preparing for pick-up:
- Please bring your own bins/bags to carry items away.
- Please bring enough personnel to carry the items you are borrowing.
- Clothing items on hangers may be taken on the hangers.
- If you are borrowing furniture or other large pieces, please ensure your vehicle has adequate space.
- Re-loaning is not permitted. Your group may not loan Playhouse items to another group.
- Crediting the original designer (if applicable): In some cases, items have been designed and built specifically for us. If you are borrowing an item that we deem to be the intellectual property of the original designer, we will ask you to credit that individual in your program.
- Alterations/Modifications:
- Wardrobe alterations: Basic fitting alterations of costumes are permitted. Costumes can be taken in, lengthened or shortened but should not be cut, and any fitting alterations should be undone before the items are returned. No glue is allowed on any costume item. No other wardrobe alterations are permitted unless permission is granted in advance.
- Modifications to other items: Modifications to props, furniture and other items require permission from the production manager in advance. This includes, but is not limited to, painting, adding/removing trim/hardware, reupholstering, adding/removing casters.
- Care of borrowed items: By borrowing items from the Playhouse, you agree to care for them as instructed.
- Wardrobe care: Clothing items must be cleaned at your own cost before being returned, in accordance with the instructions on the care tag. Items labeled Dry Clean Only can be cleaned with Dryel, unless otherwise specified by the production manager. Accessories and shoes should be lightly sprayed with Lysol and allowed to air dry before being returned.
- Care of non-wardrobe items: Items requiring special care will be reviewed at pick-up.
- Returns: Returns require an appointment. Appointment times are at the discretion of the production manager.
- Preparing for your return:
- Returns are expected within 2 weeks of the closing of your production. In some cases, the Playhouse may ask you to return one or more items sooner than this.
- When scheduling your return, please allow enough time to restock the items, and please bring enough personnel to do so. Wardrobe items borrowed on hangers should be returned on hangers.

- Lost or damaged items: Items not returned, or those returned damaged, soiled, or modified without permission, will be assessed a fee based on the replacement cost of the missing or damaged item(s).
