The Winni Players Community Theatre Presents
LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT
By Eugene O’Neill
A day is like a thousand years: This one is a lazy summer day at the Tyrone family home in 1922. Sun-dappled views through the windows don’t begin to mirror the weather indoors, where family secrets, disagreements, and despair all hover like summer gnats. What we begin to see is how the most troubled of families makes it through another day. And “troubled” may be an understatement as we see addiction in its many guises: drugs, alcohol, and perhaps most insidious of all, the cycle of guilt and recrimination and attack. O’Neill’s semi-autobiographical opus was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1957.
