The Winnipesaukee Playhouse Education Department firmly believes that theatre education is for people of ALL ages! We are proud to offer the following opportunities in conjunction with the professional summer season at absolutely no additional cost to our patrons. We hope to see you at one or more of them!
post-performance tours and discussions with design/technical staff
Design and technical elements work together to support and enhance theatrical storytelling by creating vivid worlds. During tours, members of the creative team lead audiences on an exploration of the production’s design elements and how they came together. Patrons engage in (or just listen to) a discussion about scenic, lighting, costume, and sound design choices as well as construction, installation, and other technical concerns. Join us on stage following the performance for a peek behind the curtain at each production’s “page to stage” design and technical process

Tours are held immediately following evening performances, but are open to all patrons whether or not you have attended that evening's performance-- simply call the box office to find out what time the performance ends.
fascinating pre-performance talks given by experts
Theatrical productions always have their roots in a vast catalogue of other disciplines. Drawing from the physical and social sciences and the arts and humanities, theatre invites audiences to consider the world around them through a particular set of lenses. In the Symposium Series, patrons have the opportunity to listen and, if desired, participate in a presentation by an expert in a field connected with each production. Participation in these conversations is aimed at enriching the theatergoing experience or patrons who both have and have not yet seen the production—guaranteed to lay a foundation for interesting lobby conversations and debates!

Symposium presentations are 6:00PM-6:45PM on the dates listed above. They are open to all patrons, whether or not you are attending the performance that evening. For those who are attending the performance, the discussion will end in time for you to relax on the deck with a drink or a meal before the show begins.
post-performance discussions with the actors
An excellent night at the theatre is always enhanced by an excellent discussion! Patrons staying in the theatre for the Talkback have the chance to discuss and respond to issues raised by the performance as well as ask questions about the play, the actors, the rehearsal process, the performance, or simply enjoy listening. Join members of the cast and other guests for this opportunity to engage directly with the work and some of the people who make it!
